on a dutch forum there is a discussion on this drive which is apparently also used by pelagic for their autopilot. will this work with Pypilot as well? keen to try to get a nice setup.
Also, is there any reason to take the version with a potentiometer or hall sensor? dont think pypilot takes advantage of those yet but if it ever could would be nice to know.
these motors  are cheap but you need to buy at least 4. in the Netherlands more people are interested so might become a group buy.
I have been monitoring the thread as well. Still some debate whether or not it is the same as Pelagic. Some people state that Pelagic is changing out a few Chinese components for high quality components made by them.

The hall-sensors probably provide feedback for end-of-travel. PyPilot is monitoring that. Pypilot has an input for 'rudder sense' as well. Which means that you can connect a potentiometer to measure the movement of the rudder. So a potentiometer inside the drive would be usable for that as well. But only when the drive is connected to the tiller, so no rudder-signal when self steering.

As far as I have understood rudder feedback is not of big use yet. It only helps setting up gain automatically, instead of manually. But definately a nice option, although achievable with a separate potentiometer to the rudderstock as well.
