Bug [SOLVED] I2C sensors vanished
Posted by: Didier B - 05-19-2016, 01:45 PM - Forum: Bug Reports - Replies (5)

I2C sensors (IMU & atmospheric) suddenly disappeared from the multiplexing process :
- no values in the inspector windows ; (1W sensors were OK)
- no values in the OCPN dashboard, except in compass vue : 998° Exclamation
- sensors were correctly detected in the OP I2C tab ;
- IMU calibration appeared as usual ( i.e. only min/max. calibration, see my post about this issue)
- I used the reset buttons in the I2C tab, followed by OP restart and reselection but without any success...

After making a copy of my µSD card, I had to clone from github to correct the issue.

BUT what remains an issue is : what if this happened offshore, away from any internet connection  Huh

  ShipModul MiniPlex-42USB

I'm using a ShipModul MiniPlex-42USB to combine my nmea183 data. Untill now I connected out-1 to a serial to usb convertor to get the data to the raspberry.

I saw somebody else was trying to connect a shipmodul multiplexer (altough a never version if i'm remembering correctly) in the cruiserforum thread. This was before the usb manager was in place and I don't think it was mentioned again in that thread.

So, here it goes:

Miniplex is getting data on channel 1 from a laptop running VDRplayer and outputting that on the serial port.

Miniplex is recognised by raspbian

When I open Inspector, no nmea183 data is shown.

any ideas?

Now I try to install the add-on WeatherRouting OpenCPN, but I can not ... as well as other supplements. Dodgy

  direct STW input and more
Posted by: manitu - 05-17-2016, 12:55 PM - Forum: Feature Requests - Replies (2)

Hi.  Thanks for the amazing work all of you, OpenPlotter is developing faster than I could imagine.
doing the SignalK/NMEA2000 bit before analog sensors makes perfectly sense , considering limitations on 0183 when naming and reading sensors.

I would love to have a standard STW sensor input! It has been done with an ardunio and I could just do that, but just dedicating a input on the analog interface would make it so much easier on the non tech-heads[/url]. [url=https://github.com/HomegrownMarine/better_speedo]https://github.com/HomegrownMarine/better_speedo

Waterproof control interfaces is hard to find at reasonable prices. Could GPIO's or analog inputs be used as mouse controls? then I could use off-the-shelf  joysticks and buttons.

Calculating polars would be great.

Does the radar plugins work with Openplotter? Anyone tried?

@Sailoog: Im planning to buy sensors for 3 pi's and I have a Q:

Do you plan to sell IMU's? if not, wich one is the recomended one (easiest to calibrate/most accurate) ?
will you get nmea0183 interfaces before you run out the nmea2000 ones ? need both.
In the webshop, what do you choose when you are from outside EU but inside europe? (Norway)
I guess I choose US to get the price without EU sales tax, but dont send my stuff to the US .

thanks again , keep up the great work!

  [SOLVED] Inspector won't open
Posted by: robbiedeloose - 05-17-2016, 09:08 AM - Forum: Bug Reports - Replies (6)

Hi Guys,

I just installed version 0.8.0 beta on a raspberry pi 3. Clean install (http://www.sailoog.com/en/blog/test-open...r-v080beta)

If I try to open inspector from nmea183 tab, nothing happens. Opening from other tabs or from the menu has same behaviour

Running OP in debug mode gives following information:
pi@openplotter:~ $ python /home/pi/.config/openplotter/openplotter.py
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/home/pi/.config/openplotter/output.py", line 213, in <module>

    self.client_local.connect(local_broker, local_port)
  File "/usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/paho/mqtt/client.py", line 612, in connect
    return self.reconnect()
  File "/usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/paho/mqtt/client.py", line 734, in reconnect
    sock = socket.create_connection((self._host, self._port), source_address=(self._bind_address, 0))
  File "/usr/lib/python2.7/socket.py", line 571, in create_connection
    raise err
socket.error: [Errno 111] Connection refused

Edit: Forgot to mention: no devices are connected to the raspberry pi

What other informution do you need?
Thx a lot!

  Brookhouse MUX
Posted by: Halo - 05-17-2016, 05:31 AM - Forum: How do I...? - Replies (4)

Want to run OP on RPi 3; use a Brookhouse USB Seatalk MUX for all NMEA 0183 and  ST devices.
The MUX has a USB, RS422 and RS323 output. My intention is to connect the USB output to the RPi 3. But, as far as I know has the MUX a USB driver only for Windows. So, how to solve this "problem"?

  Directory for sound files
Posted by: SkipperEarly - 05-16-2016, 04:34 AM - Forum: General discussion - No Replies

Thanks for implementing the startup sound option in OP.

Just as a littel comment: there are also sound directories in OCPN and the watchdog addin, could we standardize or better (as OCPN is in hidden dirs) select one visible shared directory?

"Uredd" is the boats name, it is Norwegian and translates to "Brave"
