ShipModul MiniPlex-42USB - robbiedeloose - 2016-05-18 Hi, I'm using a ShipModul MiniPlex-42USB to combine my nmea183 data. Untill now I connected out-1 to a serial to usb convertor to get the data to the raspberry. I saw somebody else was trying to connect a shipmodul multiplexer (altough a never version if i'm remembering correctly) in the cruiserforum thread. This was before the usb manager was in place and I don't think it was mentioned again in that thread. So, here it goes: Miniplex is getting data on channel 1 from a laptop running VDRplayer and outputting that on the serial port. Miniplex is recognised by raspbian Code: pi@openplotter:~ $ lsusb Code: pi@openplotter:~ $ dmesg | grep tty The usb manager recognises the usb device as well. When I open Inspector, no nmea183 data is shown. any ideas? RE: ShipModul MiniPlex-42USB - Sailoog - 2016-05-18 Do you press apply changes? Are you sure bauds are 4800? Are you sure you have data traffic? RE: ShipModul MiniPlex-42USB - robbiedeloose - 2016-05-18 (2016-05-18, 06:59 PM)Sailoog Wrote: Do you press apply changes? it was the baudrate. It needed to be 57600. I've should have checked that thx for pointing it out! RE: ShipModul MiniPlex-42USB - e-sailing - 2016-05-18 Here is the typical problem. You have a multiport FTDI Chip 4232. Delete your sentence with remember by device. (this blocks recognizing the other 3 ports) Open add Window again -now you will see 4 ports! But only difference is the port number not the serial -> so you must select remember by port -do it with all 4 ports Thats it. Keep in mind that you bound the serial ports to the USB port. (When you change the USB port, the udev rule doesn't find the ports) RE: ShipModul MiniPlex-42USB - robbiedeloose - 2016-05-19 i don't realy see the difference. if i remove the usb device and press the add button again I get the folowing screen: RE: ShipModul MiniPlex-42USB - e-sailing - 2016-05-19 Sorry i was wrong its only one port and you already solved your problem. There are some multiport serial adapter on the market but shipmodul isn't a multiport adapter. RE: ShipModul MiniPlex-42USB - robbiedeloose - 2016-05-20 It might be a good idea to start a thread with the different Multiplexers people have tested so we have a compatibility list. Maybe accompanied by any special settings that where needed to get it running. As more people will start using this it will be helpfull to have this in the documentation. Is there allready information available on this topic? I saw one other post about another multiplexer, but that is about it. RE: ShipModul MiniPlex-42USB - Sailoog - 2016-05-20 Good idea. I have written this sticky post: http://forum.openmarine.net/showthread.php?tid=109 Might be valid for other devices too... |
