[CLOSED] CPU over 90% with gqrx V1.0 - Luckbert - 2018-06-01

Hello, everybody,
I connected an RTLSDR dongle and started gqrx via sdr-Radio. As soon as the window opens, the CPU rises to over 90% and clear reception is not possible.
Is this a bug or have I made a mistake under the thousand settings.
I can receive voices and music from a regional radio station but only chopped off. I'm afraid it's the lack of processing power.
I can't tell if it was better in surgery 0.17 either.
Greetings Jürgen

Hi Jurgen,

setting for RTL-DSR dongle is in Tools tab. And for the use of an RTL-DSR dongle you must use a powered USB hub. Because the Dongle uses too much power for the USB port.

Works great here.

nehmen Sie in Tools die RTL eingaben und nutzen Sie ein aktieve USB Hub. USB hat zu wenig Energie fur ein RTL-DSR.

Geht hier schon lange Zeit ohne Fehler.

Bram

hi,
It's not about the dongle itself. It's all right with that. Everything works great in AIS mode.
It's about the tool GQRX.
This tool seems to use a lot of CPU power.

gqrx was always a resource hog.
scroll down to gqrx for settings

For some fun have a look here and go down to ADS-B Aircraft Tracking with Dump1090

A quick compile and it worked straight away on 0.17. with just the rubbish little antenna which came with the dongle

Now watching some planes on a map at 10.10.10.1:8080

Cool

Thanks for your help. Wink
I think I'm gonna keep listening to the radio normally with another device.
It uses a lot of CPU.
Maybe it'll get better later.

i was looking in getting weather reports from vhf. but ran into the same problem with cpu load it made the pi unuseable for the most part.so i just use the vhf on the boat.
you can check this out for a further understanding.

I've got Linrad sort of working with a fun cube dongle pro plus, audio is stutter free but not sure how the program actually works yet..   But hopeful, would be great to automate receiving weatherfaxes offshore. Shame the RTL dongles don't go low enough to get Wfax.
