Found a great touchscreen monitor for OP - terestron - 2019-11-20

I don't see much info on a good monitor for OP in the cockpit.  I came across this one.
https://www.ikey.com/product/ik-kv-12-1-2/

It sells new for $1300  but I bought one on eBay for $27 like brand new and there are quite few on there in the $50 to $60 range.

It is 12.1" touchscreen (2 point) and it says it is good for all conditions. High brightness for daylight viewing 1000nit.  12vdc, looks like it may need 4a source but mine is running fine on a 2a supply. Enclosure is made out of aluminium.  has a antiglare screen.  vesa mounting, hdmi.

when i plugged the usb in to the RaspPi the touchscreen worked right away. however it seems to be just one point, need to figure that out.  it has a window key that will drop down the Pi menu if your OpenCPN is full screen. BTW I am running a Pi 3+ B and OP v2.

Hope this helps someone looking for a monitor.

You are right! there was a couple on there but now seem to be gone.  I would keep checking though.

Here was the link to the one I bought

Looks cool! I ordered one earlier today.

Maybe this one is still there

The brightness control being able to go as low as 8 nits is fantastic. Often getting the brightness low enough is the Achilles heel of daylight viewable monitors. Some of the cheap Chinese ones can only down to 350nits which is basically like a normal home PC monitor at full brightness. Obviously way too light for any night work.

The resolution leaves a lot to be desired though.

I recently bought an iiyama prolite that seems to work well. It too has 1000nits brightness. The touchscreen only works in mouse-mode in Linux though, and the colour reproduction isn't fantastic.

Hi There

I ordered one of these monitors, got the monitor and keyboard with touch pad and touch screen for like $75... my problem is that it did not come with a power plug and none of the ones I have seem to fit, the center pin seems to big.

Does anyone know the correct plug for this? I have to buy online so trial and error could be frustratingly expensive...
cheers
Pete

I had a power brick laying around from an RGB LED project. That fits just fine. It is a standard power plug (well, at least one of the standards).

I have not yet been successful getting multitouch going. That’s the challenge.

Outside is ground. Inside pin is 12 volt. What brand/type plug did you find?

Thanks beercansailor

I actually found a plug from an old laptop that fits perfectly. The brick says its a liteon. Can't use it as it is rated at 19v but the plug will work fine
Getting excited to for OP2 on the Rpi4 with a new monitor that should not overheat like my old one did...
