without rudder feedback, you can't just "put it back the other way the same amount of time" since because of weather helm the motor is really easy to move the rudder to tack, but as boat speed slows after tack, it takes longer to get back. The amount varies but could at least be estimated based on motor current if there is no rudder feedback...
I like this jib/tack prevention mode. The watchdog in opencpn can make an alarm but this may be too late. If the autopilot could use a regular compass or gps course, but have a setting for minimum and maximum wind angle, this could be interesting.
