I have a ST40 and ST6000+ on the same bus from the course computer, and MCS on the other.
Have tried hooking up MCS to the bus of other instruments by splitting the cable but that caused more problems...
It should really have the same potential here on the boat.
Is it as simple as not having the pullup makes the Course computer complain?
From Knaufs reference; "pullup circuit in each device, talker pulls down to 0V (wired OR)"

Hi
I connected a 4000 series buffer between the seatalk bus and the optocoupler in the mcs board.
Now everything works perfectly.
I think this would be a good idea for a mcs board revision.

Hi,
Have you connect a serias Resistor or a pullup. Normaly you don´t net a furthr pullup. I have try with a different count of devices and I cannot reply the issue...
It´s possible that the older devices have different pullups on the devices.
whic device does not work with the MCS? The ST40 or the ST6000+?

In my setup the st5000+ did not work.
The 4000 series buffer i connected between the seatalk bus and mcs bord has a very high input impedance and does not load the seatalk bus. This worked!
I have not looked at the signals with a scope but my solution to the problem implies that the mcs board can load a seatalk bus to much. Thus higher input impedance than the mcs optocoupler circuit needed.

In My case the ST6000+ complains, but the ST40 is fine.
Don't have anything to try out with now at sea...

Hi Glowntiger,
Looks promising your board. Two questions;
- I understand that it is possible to receive Seatalk1 messages, but is it also possible to send ?
- I'm searching for something to keep the PI up and running a little longer as the 1 minute while 12v is disappeared, I assume it is not advisable to connect an additional USB power bank to the PI directly or add something as an ultracapacitor somewhere in the circuit.
thx

Hi,
Yes i have seen it to. I check this at the Moment. There seems to be something wrong in the Kernel?
The Devices are not mounted anymore. Dont know why....
