New OpenPlotter RPI v0.9.0alpha NOOBS
#11
Hmm. Dunno what's going on. New, damn fast SD card, file downloaded using torrent, different RasPi-B, and exactly the same results. Going to install kplex and OpenCPN on a fresh Raspian. Will probably install sdr-ias too. Will use domlticz for telemetry, it's what I use for home automation and esp8266 sensors. Not sure what I'll be missing out on except for some fancy integration.

What say you?

Peter.

Hi. Figured the problem was related to my having a version 1 RasPi-2 so I bought a RasPi-3 and a new micro SD card. All is good now. Got my Garmin iii plus working with it. Can set way points too. I downloaded maps from openseamaps so opencmn is working a treat. Thanks for your patience with a new guy.

There will be the issues and TODO lists.

New features and improvements will be documented on:

Thanks for testing!!!!

I seem to be confused. The features include headless operation, vnc and access point. There is no headless install though? Where do I download the image file without noobs? Ya know, the pop this in and everything works headless operation? I do not currently own a keyboard and mouse and monitor to do the noobs install, and it seems silly to buy all those to install a system and just turn around and return them all to the store after installing.

BTW I am literally blown away by all the features packed in. I bought a raspberry pi with the intention of doing much of this on my boat. I was looking for an image with vnc pre-configured when I found this amazing project. I can't wait to use it.

You are right, the latest alpha of openplotter NOOBS is not working anymore for headless and you will need a monitor to have the system running first. But this will be solved soon. There will be a new OpenCPN release next week and we have plans to release a new openplotter NOOBS too. It will be still alpha (sorry, we are still rebuilding some important parts) but it will be real headless.

Until this happens, if you want you can play with the last working headless version http://www.sailoog.com/en/blog/download-...r-rpi-v080 it is not NOOBS but an image. You have to edit the file /boot/config.txt to configure the access point.

@Sailoog Pls keep this op section in /boot/config for all wlan and eth related settings . It seem to have disappeared in 0.9.0 alfa.
have 2 wlan's and get frequently connection issues, as usual after voltage drops. Know that but can then not easily recover anymor by just resetting config file.

BTW op 0.9.0 is great improvement - thanks for your efforts!

thanks.
Have you direct link to download last beta (0.17) or newer version? Or it is possible only from openplotter's application?
