installing tinypilot

Thank You very much for sharing Your free Autopilot
I bought the necessary parts and am trying to figure out how to install and connect things

How do You install tinypilot ?

I tried in various ways, copying the files into the tce folder but it seems not working.

kind regards

Tinypilot is a separate linux distribution based on tinycore linux. It does not have the features of openplotter.

pypilot can run on tinypilot, openplotter, raspbian or any operating system supporting python.

Tinypilot is intended to run the autopilot and other services with more reliability as it runs completely from ram, less power consumption, and works well on pizero or pizero-w, but can run on any raspberry pi.

The tinypilot repository is here:
https://github.com/pypilot/tinypilot

It contains only build scripts. You would need to execute the build scripts to build the tcz packages. I will be uploading tinypilot images in the near future.

An image file to dd on a SD card would be much appreciated.
I tried to find instruction about building tcz wiith my 'friend' Gxxgle but no valid results came up.

I have a working installation of OpenPlotter but don't know how to configure pypilot, got lots of errors about the IMU.

Setup within OpenCPN as well as OpenPlottter needs manual configuration, which is not easy without instructions.

I will be posting an image for use with dd very soon.

The next version of openplotter will have much improved pypilot integration.

Hello Sean,

I try to build the tinycore version for pypilot for my PI Zero + W

I run into several issues.
The current stable tiny core version for PI is version 9.03 (including a new kernel) and some of the default available packages (dev dependencies as mentioned required for the building process) are not available in the current mirrors.
The git repository is more than 2 year old except for one file mydata.tgz so I expect that many scripts expect an environment as it was 2 years ago.

I did manage to build runit and gpsd but when continuing to other build scripts there are dependencies to python 2.7 and pip etc what I can not resolve with the current tiny core environment.

Also for example the opencpn.build script includes opencpn tar file but no version is mentioned, latest version = 5.0. 61 MB source code what is not possible to build because of memory size (with tiny core in memory) and I expect also build issues if I can start compiling.

What is the best way to proceed.
Thanks for your support,

Try this location:

I have the latest image up and running now.
