Waterproof displays
#1
Hi!

I've asked before but maybe there are new developments. Smile Is anyone aware of an affordable waterproof sunlight readble display that would be suited for putting in the cockpit? Smile I know that's kind of asking for it all (usually it's a pick 2 of the 3, affordable/waterproof/sunlight readable) but I'm hoping the prices are coming down.

For what it's worth the best I've found so far are from Faytech. (US Prices here: https://www.faytech.us/touchscreen-monitor/industrial/ )

Granted the prices are a bunch better then I've found elsewhere, but would like to see what others have found (If anything)

Thanks!

You'll still need some sort of waterproof mounting for it, as apparently on the the front is waterproof. I guess that wouldn't be too bad, but some of those plastic pedestal instrument mounts can be pretty expensive! Still, this is the best price I've seen so far.

Interesting - the specs (and price) on this are about the same as the Kindle Oasis, which is also waterproof. What about just a drop-in mount for a Kindle?

I find it frustrating that e-ink displays don't seem to come down in price!

Hello,
I have been looking for a waterproof display for some time now.

In the case of a capacitive touch screen, I would like to point out that it does not function well in humid environments.
Like a cell phone in the shower. It does everything but nothing what it should.

In terms of e-ink displays, it might be interesting to keep an eye on developments with new color displays

That is interesting; they have a 7" version for around $50 add an Rpi with a waterproof case and you could have a very capable display for <$100.

Why not an OLED screen surrounded by clear epoxy resin? See this crazy project: Raspberry + battery + OLED in one epoxy resin block.
