wifi network v1.0
#11
"Maybe my idea of setting the Pi up as a router to distribute wifi through the boat is not the best option. "

all you need is a usb wifi adapter.. ap+client
adapter connects to internet ip 192.168.1.1 wlan0, then it shares the usb adapter to"wlan1/uap0" the pi's built in wifi, openplotters ap..
connect to openplotter ap it assigns address to device 10.10.10.xxx its sharing from the usb adapter connected to 192.168.1.1..EZ PEEZY.....
it can be done with just the onboard wifi as ap/client but range is limited...i am guessing you are looking for long range..

just because you have an extender does not make it the best choice for the job
