You are right, the GL-driver is the problem. As soon as I disable the GL-driver (in old raspi-config) the Faytech display behaves normally. The Openplotter starting procedure is finished normally (no hanging after 'checking 800x480 display'). The tvservice command works again and the edid.dat file can be parsed. A text file wilth the terminal output of edidparser is attached.
So the question comes down to a problem with the GL-driver enabled and tvservice when using a Faytech screen.
