openplotter n2k reliability
#1
i'm planning to buy my first boat and use opencpn as my plotter, but i would like to have depth and speed on it's own and intergrate that into openplotter, eather using nmea 0183 or n2k

the problem is i can't get a nmea 0183 transducer, so i'm wondering what's the reliability of n2k in openplotter?

I'am using the Canable canbus card and the SignalK settings. NMEA2K is translated to SignalK. And SignalK to NMEA183 to used in OpenCPN or other software. You can also use the SignalK instruments with the data from NMEA2K. It is also possible to put NMEA183 data to NMEA2K.

It is working on my RPI4 with OpenPlotter 2.00 beta. With GPS and Ais.

But it is not working out of the box. You have to do some settings. It is running here for days from my AIS transponder.
