Yes, kplex could run on the tinypilot, but I am not sure if it can do exactly want is needed. If it can read a configuration file which tells it to connect to pypilot and output to another tcp connection or serial port then it would be a viable solution.
Also consider all the hops the data makes before it reaches the end gauge and how much total lag, if greater than 200ms it will be noticeable.
