Control buttons
#1
Had our first trial today of Tinypilot on our 42ft Endevour. It worked well and followed our route exactly, its an excellent job Sean!
Our Tiny pilot was supplied with 2 small TV remotes that both failed within the first hour. We cannot rely on TV remotes and need hard wired buttons at the helm. I can fit waterproof push buttons but need to know how to wire these to the Pi. Can you help please?

Sorry the remote has failed. You might replace the battery? Unfortunately these remotes are not the best.

You can use any IR remote, and there are waterproof ones available for something more reliable.

There are 6 pins for a keypad to attach on the circuit board of the tinypilot. The first pin is ground, and common, the other 5 pins can be used for buttons. This should give much more reliable control.

I have success today supporting RF remotes. These are better than the IR ones, but have other limitations. They at least don't need line of sight which makes them more useful.
