Access Point- Pi 4 - OpenPlotter 2019-12-16 v2.0-pre-release-img
#1
I'm hoping to use Openplotter w/ Pi4 for simple navigation.

Goal is to run Pi in cabin with ability to access on tablet or phone via vnc in cockpit.

Pi 4 networking is causing some challenges.

Enabling the AP via the Openplotter Network menu gives me options:

AP:
none
[mac-address] on board
[mac-address] AP and Station

Several times in exploring the configuration options using the "on board" option, the Pi lost wifi access (i.e. only ethernet access recognized) causing me to need to reimage the SD card.

The openplotter SSID shows up but neither phone nor laptop will authenticate.

Now trying a separate USB wireless dongle.

wlan0
channel 48

still cannot authenticate.

---

I understand this is alpha, so if there's code to be patched ... I will certainly hang tight. But any advice appreciated.

downloading the headless image you should be able to connect to your RPi4, you have to do nothing, just download, install and connect:

If you still have problems, you may have hardware problems or a non reliable power source.

Thanks. An alternative USB/Wireless dongle did the trick. Openplotter and OpenCPN now running well, and accessible via VNC.
