Can somebody assist me?
#1
I have a DST800 Triducer (NMEA 0183) that I'm attempting to connect to my OP V2. I purchased a USB to RS422 converter. I correctly connected the wires (R+ and R-). The Receive LED is flashing RED, and I have 13V going to the Transducer. The OP notices it in the serial tab. I connected it to serial K at 38400 Baud using the AUTO. I added it to OPEN CPN under connections. However, it was added as 4800 baud. However, there is no response to temperature, depth, or speed. BTW, I'm doing all of this in my office before I install. Serial GPS works perfectly on the RPI V3b+. I'm not very knowledgeable about this. I'm sure I'm missing something. Can somebody assist me?

Hi, I'm not sure you can connect directly to this transducer with a USB converter. Can you just confirm how many wires it has and if there is any labelling on them?

Also the speed on NMEA 0183 is likely to be 4800 rather than 38400.

What instruments do you have onboard as it might be easier to get the data in from the back of one of these.

I agree with BB that if it's nmea0183 then the Baud rate should probably be 4800 so well worth changing that. Also having added the serial device in OpenPlotter why do you need to add it again in OpenCPN?

Edit - On the OpenPlotter Serial pages did you add the connection to Signal K?

If you try to read any USB device from 2 programs (Signal k and opencpn), both will be killed. Connect the device only to signal k and connect opencpn to signal k.
