Can anyone help identify the issue?
#1
Hi, I've set up Openplotter with OpenCPN on my system. Initially, OpenCPN receives data from SignalK, and PyPilot captures data from the compass unit. However, OpenCPN doesn't display compass data, although the PyPilot plugin does. Interestingly, when I access OpenCPN's options and simply click 'ok' without making any changes, the compass data appears and shows the correct heading. But, if I close and reopen OpenCPN, the compass heading disappears again. Moreover, when setting a navigation target in OpenCPN, PyPilot activates the GPS option, but the heading is completely off even though the NMEA bearing is correct. Can anyone help identify the issue? I'm eager to try out PyPilot this summer and would appreciate any assistance. Thanks!

it sounds like there may be some issues with pypilot communicating with opencpn. Have you checked the connections in opencpn to see if there is a nmea tcp connection to pypilot? If not, it is possible to automatically detect pypilot and connect using the pypilot plugin with the "forward nmea" option checked. Either option should work but for following routes you need bi-directional data.

As for the heading being wrong, is it possible you were not moving? The gps heading will not be useful unless you are underway.
