the pictures are for reference only and are 3D renderings, so no solder pads are shown at all.

The picture shows what you get. There are of course solder pads for the IO headers available. If you want to use them you can solder a header on your own.

Thanks for the information. I guess that the picture to the right on page 2 is also a 3D rendering but with headers etc...a bit confusing.

Anyway, with this info in my pocket i can go ahead and order :-)

You are right. All figures except figure 3 are 3D renderings. The aim of figure 2 is to illustrate how to identify the different available options.
Figure 3 by the way is PE77001E02-UART (= basic model + UART option).

I will update the technical specification with the pinout of the HAT headers in the next few days.
