I've been using the Geekworm X830 SSD adapter board, and case, for about a year. It's a great little system for OpenPlotter. The system is well built, and surprisingly the metal case still allows WiFi to be transmitted all over the boat. I suggested to them that they add soft-shutdown capability, and they listened!
They have just upgraded their board to support 12v incoming power, and soft shutdown. The 12V is a bonus, which means I can do away with my noisy 5V converter. I'm also installing a Plugable USB2.0 7 port hub, which is also 12v.
It's a shame they haven't created this for RPI4, but for those who are using RPI3+, I think this is a great way to support an SSD.
