I have a simple system with a rpi running OP and a pc running opencpn. For a while a struggled with setting to make the pc/opencpn talk to the autopilot. 
I have pc linked to rpi via UDP to Signal K and a serial output to the Raymarine autopilot on NMEA0183. 
On the dashboard I can see the incoming autopilot data input but there is no indication that data is outbound to the autopilot yet it's all working nicely. 
Should I be able to check this output. It would be useful in case of a loop.
