So I ordered and just received my new pypilot hat.  I'm going to be using this hat with a PI 4 and Sean's motor controller.  The past few seasons, I had my old setup working fine with an MPU that I bought.  MPU became intermittent and then failed so I thought it was a good time to step up to Sean's hat, get the display, remote, etc.  Also, I'm happy to support Sean in a small way for all his hard work.  (I remain astonished by this project.)

Regardless, I can't find anything that's clear about how to wire the hat.  My motor controller has blue, white, brown and black wires and my new hat has brown, black, green, blue, and red.  Can someone let me know how to wire or point me to a resource?  

Also, I'm going to be reloading openplotter from scratch and then adding the pypilot plugin.  Been there, done that already with my old setup, but if anyone have pointers about how to enable the display and remote, I'd appreciate any help.

I am sorry the wiring schemes keep changing. You can match tx to rx, or check the wiring description:

You will have to "convert" if you have two different combinations.

OK, thanks Sean.  Making some progress.  What is the red wire on the hat and where does it connect?  In the picture on the store (attached) it is white or gray?

OK, after much experimenting, reading the workbook, reading through forum posts, here's where I am.  With Sean's help in previous post, I wired my hat to the motor controller.  My color scheme highlighted yellow.

In order to get everything working with my PI4 and hat, I had to do the steps at the bottom of this thread.

Now when I start openplotter-pypilot I get a popup that says "hardware serial must be enabled for motor controller communication".  I OK that, the app starts, and I go to the "Serial" tab.  It says "hardware serial detected" and "Enable" is selectable, but when I select, nothing happens.  I start openplotter-pypilot from the command line hoping to see output, error, etc., when I press "Enable" but nothing.  See output of console attached.  Again, no new output when I press Enable.

Nevermind.  I answered my own question.  I didn't read far enough in the workbook.  Did these steps and I'm off and running.  (You can write a "Pypilot for Dummies" but you can't make a true dummy read the whole thing.  )
