Hi. I am planning to manage some OpenCPN features charging the software on a Raspberry 4B and using Pypilot on my boat. For this purpose I would need to charge Navigation Charts specific for Italy but not available at the moment ( neither a possible availability in the near future is expected) . I am so trying to know if there are any  Navigation Charts compatible with OpenCPN  software to be installed on Raspberry Pi devices in order to be able to use my Pypilot function over Italy ( specifically Mid Tirrein coastal sea) zones.
Your advices are very appreciated.
Best regards

Francesco
I work at o-charts.

oeSENC charts for Italy are no longer available due to administrative issues with Italian authorities. The required economic conditions make that not sustainable.

Alternatives right now are S63 charts (very expensive) or the old and obsolete CM93

Many thanks. No good notice for Italian sailors that use OpenCPN. I will try to charge the CM93 ones,  though not updated and if compatible with Raspberry language software. I had troubles to try to buy the S63 charts because, if  I am not wrong, they are compatible only for Windows devices.

If you have a Windows machine to run sasplanet on you can make your own..

S63 work for any system: https://o-charts.org/manuals/s63_index.php?lng=it

the cm93 charts do work on raspberry pi, or any device with opencpn but they are from 2014.   Probably good enough.

using qgis you can easily make mbtiles charts using satellite imagery.    There are also other ways to produce charts.
I bought two S63 charts from ChartWorld but I have troubles to charge and read them on OpecCPN. I don't know why but the Charts Bar doesn't show the S63 button . According to ChartWorld instructions I have downloaded the attached FTP files and I have put them in a Pi directory on my Raspberry, but I am not able to open the files using any of the buttons available on the Charts bar. I hope not to be obliged to create on my own the S3 Plugin , because the procedure seems to be complex and I am not confident to get a wright result. Could I try a procedure to open the S3 files only using the bar buttons now available without installing a S3 plugin?
Could anyone help me for solving my issue?
I thank you very much,
best regards,

Francesco
You must use the S-63 plugin to use S-63 charts in opencpn: https://o-charts.org/manuals/s63_index.php

Unlikely the predefined Plugin list doesn't include the S63 plugin. Is it there a simplified procedure to install the plugin on a raspberry pi 4 device?
Many thanks

Francesco
S63 plugin should be in the list after updating the catalogue. Write to o-charts in case you can not see it.
