I am a relatively newby Pi, Openplotter & MacArthur HAT user. Openplotter runs fine on my Pi5 8Gb. MacArthur HAT works fine via the power module. 12V switch comes from the NMEA2000 cable (self made). The NMEA2000 white and blue cables are connected as indicated in the very good documentation of the HAT. When initiating the HAT 12V and 5V are on, NMEA0183 1 flashes periodically (nothing connected), Can comes on yellow and green but go out.
However, the lights of AIS and GPS are out even when my EM Trak 953 is on and connected to the NMEA2000 bus (correctly terminated). The AIS works as I can be found on Marine Traffic.
In Signal K the setup is correct as per the MacAthur HAT documentation.

Note: the small HAT that reports pitch, roll and yaw works fine as I can see in Signal K.

What can I have forgotten … or done wrong?
I think I may gave changed the Can-L and Can-H wires. The picture in the manual is a bit misleading as it shows the blue wire in right position and the green wire (in my cable it is white) in left position. But when looking to the picture of wires in the female plug My conclusion is that I have exchanged the can-l and can-h.
I only can check this next week.
imho -
the HATs AIS and GPS leds will only work with the external Maiana-Module, so this is normal.
MacArthur HAT will not decode your N2K Bus for AIS or GPS and blink its LEDs. They blink only with direct contact on their lines.

As your EM Trac sends to OP and then to MarineTraffic your N2K Bus seems to be workind and the H & L Lines are correct.

good Luck - Holger
Thanks for the clarification Holger. I already found that I have mixed up the wires for can-l and can-h. I was too focussed on the wire colors instead of the labels.
By the way, Marine Traffic picked up my send AIS messages via ships receiving my AIS messages, not via the MacArthur HAT.
Fine, you got your Bus running.

ps: Only "active" AIS Devices can be picked up by other Ships - you send your Position to MarineTraffic via Net.
wait: you USE an real Device, as i just found out. This works truely without your intervention for other air listeners - so my asumption was false.

Well … I finally got it working. I get AIS data in OpenCPN, AvNav and iSailor. The trick is you need two plugins. One plugin to convert the AIS data from N2K to NMEA0183 and another to do AIS-forwarding. Both plugins can be loaded from the SignalK appstore.
