Hello,
tried the test delta message.
It created the navigaton.trip widget with the selection to change the unit, only the displayName was "more test".
I changed the displayName to "navigation.trip", did the fiddling again and now the widget functions perfectly.
The change survives restarts of IP and boots, so everything is now in order.
