Didier ==>  Do you have a parts list and connections schematic for your set up -- I am embarking on a project to build a Pi based total-boat system that will run OpenCPN/PyPilot as a chartplotter and operate the PyPilot auto-pilot motor controller.

I prefer a one enclosure does it all approach but haven't been a hardware guy since the late-1980s.....when we all built our own desktop machines from boards and hacks.

I would appreciate your sharing your expertise and experience.

Thanks,

Ciao @KipHansen, the MCS board has almost everything you need, to add Pypilot controller I don't know. You should ask Thomas:

When purchasing the MCS board complete with the case, what aditional bits and bobs do you need? I also have the Mortisier Hat on the way.

I know you need the 40 pin adapter and various waterproof glands for cables. Are there waterproof USB and HDMI outlets with short jumper cables? What size standoffs are needed for the Hat?

Ciao, if it can be useful to understand what you need, look at this tread (photo): http://forum.openmarine.net/showthread.php?tid=1807&pid=11081#pid11081

Good morning Thomas,
I received the MCS pcb, everything ok. Thanks. While I wait to be able to assemble everything, and have permission to access my boat (Covid-19 limitations), I have allowed myself to translate your guide for MCS into Italian. If it could be useful.
Good wind and thank you.

Ciao, bel lavoro. Big Grin

Hi, nice job. Everything works fine for me and I too am waiting for the green light to get to the boat. I only hope that the friend tkurki gives us a hand with: https://github.com/SignalK/signalk-parser-nmea0183/pull/174 to be able to update signalk to the latest version (1.29) without losing the job that Thomas has done on my MCS. I think NASA's Clipper Wind is used by others and without the fix it's a nice mess. Waiting impatiently I wish everyone a good wind!

Hi Niklun,
wow.... Many thanks...

RE: Server Hardware for openplotter? - flybob - 2020-05-05

I got my autopilot connected to N0183, Led is lit on the input port (middle right).
In Serial app I've defined SC4 as ttyOP_outpilot
SignalK also shows it, baud rate is correct.
No deltas at all from the input in SignalK

I don't get any input at all, even when doing a cat /dev/ttyOP_outpilot it's all empty.

Any ideas?

Also, do I need to connect the signal gnd? The autopilot doesn't feature a signal gnd connector Smile

RE: Server Hardware for openplotter? - glowntiger - 2020-05-06

what kind of autopilot? NMEA0183 V1 or older ( Means RS422 or toggling 12V??
