RE: Document your pypilot installation - rastam4n - 2019-08-27 (2019-08-27, 04:00 PM)Hub @Code Rouge Wrote: Well this is our first Raspberry Pi project, so we will take it slow, at the moment we are getting stared with the raspberry. I imagine next step is to download openplotter and py pilot and have them working on the raspberry. This was my second Rpi project and this one is more difficult to grasp for me as I am not a sailor I am a fisherman. The documentation is weak especially on the pypilot side, I would recommend buying one of the controllers Sean is selling if not simply for the support aspect of getting it all working... he is really very responsive and wants you to succeed. I have this hydraulic motor https://www.seatechmarineproducts.com/seastar-ap1219-marine-hydraulic-autopilot-pump-12v-type-1-60in-per-min.html it apparently is drawing very similar amounts to what your ram is using I have no issues at all, the controller temp (hidden away in a sealed up gumwal with the hydraulic motor) in a black aluminum boat has never gotten hotter then 30degsC, basically the temperature around it. Sean does have a newer design that will handle way more amperage though so you could go that way just to be on the safe side. I have just spent the last month getting all this working, and I am still ironing out a few "bugs" maybe its user errors, either way, I am happy to learn with you all. RE: Document your pypilot installation - ironman - 2022-06-27 I built my second pypilot as a spare for my primary one. A photo compilation at https://photos.app.goo.gl/vQ7VHdccvfHCTUkM7 makes for an easy glance-through; more details are documented in https://github.com/marcobergman/pypilot_conversion.
