Think that the Install/Uninstall Icons should be placed at the same place in every application, se picture.
I had to copy the plaka.log file
sudo cp /usr/lib/node_modules/signalk-server/samples/plaka.log /usr/lib/node_modules/signalk-server/node_modules/@signalk/
so i could use it as Filestream input. Not the same compared to the original SignalK ?

Install/Uninstall Icons moved.

I do not understand the question about the plaka file. We follow the standard SK installation way.

OK, nice

There seems to be a difference in the paths for a SK install via OP compared to a ”native” SK install
I did a test with a non existing file, XX, and checked in the log
So in Connections I added => Input Type: FileStream, Enabled: Yes, ID: Test XX, Type: NMEA 0183, File Name: XX

In the ”native” install I got from the log
ENOENT: no such file or directory, open '/usr/local/lib/node_modules/signalk-server/node_modules/@signalk/XX'

In the SK install via OP I got
ENOENT: no such file or directory, open '/usr/lib/node_modules/signalk-server/node_modules/@signalk/XX'

/local/ differs in the path and therefore I had to copy the sample file to make it work.

RE: OpenPlotter 2 roadmap - Sailoog - 2019-11-20

To install SK in OP we use: sudo npm install -g --unsafe-perm signalk-server

Could you describe the ”native” SK install procedure please?

Absolutly, just followed https://github.com/SignalK/signalk-server-node/blob/master/raspberry_pi_installation.md
and it seems that the same command is used, so why it differs beats me ?? Maybe a question for @tkurki or @sbender ?

Just a heads up with v2.0.17-beta, se enclosed picture......

Different Raspbians? See https://github.com/SignalK/signalk-server-node/issues/857

Where is the path referenced? Like why did you try a wrong path and is there something to update someplace?

Hi guys. I am completely new to OP and I am trying to learn version 2.x. I'd like to start with very basic thing, just add my usb gps holux receiver to transfer the position e.g. to OpenCPN. How to do this? In OP 2.x there is nothing similar like OP app with the tabs for all the settings as it is described in the documentation of OP 1.x

Thanks for quick response @tkurki

So the conlusion must be that if You want to use the sample files, which I think really is a good way to test the application, NMEA0183 samplefile "plaka.log" and NMEA2000 sample file "aava-n2k.data”, You must localize them with for example, sudo find -name "plaka.log", at the root ?

Are there some solution to make it more simple ?

Shall I do a PR in the https://github.com/SignalK/signalk-server-node/blob/master/raspberry_pi_installation.md#sample-files and update. The paths are wrong ? They worked in a former SK version.

Since the application "Serial Devices Management" isn't ready, in OP Beta V2, You have to connect serial USB devices in SK. (After the SK install !)

In OC setup the connection from SK to OC

[*]Click the Options-icon
[*]Connections-tab
[*]Add Connection
[*]Network
[*]Protocol: TCP
[*]Address: "localhost"
[*]DataPort: 10110
[*]Check “Show NMEA Debug Window” to see incoming messages.

Yes, that is the expected result.

We have added a packages source for Xygrib. That source will always build the latest version. The built version in Debian is an old one. We have set preferences to install always the latest version no matters the source.

"Signal K installer" has big changes because we have had to create a GUI for some settings. We no longer use the "signalk-server-setup" script from SK because we need this to be compatible with raspbian and other debian derivatives and we had problems running that script with pkexec instead of sudo blablabla. I have just published v2.0.6 because there was a bug in v2.0.5 and SK server was reinstalled and reconfigured to defaults when updating. Now is working, tested in raspbian and ubuntu.
