Another option would be to find a Raymarine ST60 Multi instrument. It has "Seatalk 1", "NMEA In", and "NMEA Out" plugs on the back and it will convert some data from Seatalk 1 to NMEA 0183 and other data from NMEA 0183 to Seatalk 1 See below for sentences. From the ST60 Multi Instrument Owner’s Handbook 1.6 Operating with NMEA The ST60 Multi instrument can provide data communication between SeaTalk and NMEA when the appropriate connections are made, and supports NMEA 0183 compatible products. SeaTalk to NMEA 0183 Data from SeaTalk is transmitted to the NMEA output port every 2 seconds. The data types and NMEA headers are: Data NMEA Header Depth DBT Heading, deviation and variation HDG Magnetic heading HDM Water temperature MTW Water speed and heading VHW Wind speed and angle MWV NMEA to SeaTalk The ST60 Multi instrument decodes certain data from NMEA when available, and if the respective data is not already present on SeaTalk, transmits the decoded data to SeaTalk. The data types and NMEA headers are: Data NMEA Header XTE, Waypoint identifier, Bearing & distance to waypoint APB Bearing & distance to waypoint BWC Bearing & distance to waypoint rhumb line BWR Latitude and longitude GLL Time, latitude, longitude, satellites tracked & HDOP GGA Cross track error MWV or XTE Navigational information RMB Time, date, lat, long, COG & SOG RMC COG and SOG VTG RE: Connect autohelm to op - luchin0 - 2020-03-30 (2020-02-23, 04:20 PM)Max1947 Wrote:Finally today has arrived the stuff to convert nmea1 signal.(2020-02-23, 12:11 PM)luchin0 Wrote: Thank you. I try it immediatly. Connecting it to my pc, it doesn't recognize it... It's becouse there are nothing attached? Becouse of corona virus restriction i don't think i can go to my boat in a short time to connect it to my instrument, how can i check if everything works? There's some drive i have to install? I searched via google but i can't find any information... Obviously, if there are no Setalk instruments attached, nothing will happen. The new door, however, you should also see it in signalK ready for use! Not being bidirectional, it is not a good idea to add the autopilot.(2020-02-23, 04:20 PM)Max1947 Wrote:Finally today has arrived the stuff to convert nmea1 signal.(2020-02-23, 12:11 PM)luchin0 Wrote: Thank you. And stay in the house, the time will come to try everything on the boat as soon as the war with the virus is won! Connect autohelm to op - luchin0 - 2020-05-12 Good morning, Finally i'm making step forward to the configuration. Now it seem i have a porblem with the cable from the instrument to the converter. As i pay no so little money for the cable i have some question before trying some solutions. What happen I check the electricity with a tester and there's some result in the data cable with changing values. This mean that some signal is arriving. In the 12 volt cable (the red one) there isn't electricity, and the converter doesn't work If i move the connector on the autohelm side the converter start working and data flows. So i supposed the problem is with the contact of the 12 volts in the connector. Is it correct? Question: Can i take the 12 volts from another source (instrument panel i.e.) directly without changing the connection from the autohelm or I'm going to damage the converter? I try to find another 3 pin round plug to change directly the one in the cable but i can't find a compatible one. Anyone knows what kind of plug is? Anyone knows what kind of plug is? you may want to look at this: https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/f13/st50-seatalk-connectors-15150.html I haven't tried this personally but this llike it may work and I am going to try the ones listed below: https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Conxall-Switchcraft/18282-3SG-311?qs=hYgNx5%252b0NvMJJ8FFqhMAYw%3D%3D&utm_source=eciaauthorized&utm_medium=aggregator&utm_campaign=18282-3SG-311&utm_term=18282-3SG-311&utm_content=Switchcraft looks like the 3 connector Female (socket) version @ $8.88 https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Conxall-Switchcraft/18282-3PG-311?qs=KjN3JxajVWTPNYtte5qviA%3D%3D&utm_source=eciaauthorized&utm_medium=aggregator&utm_campaign=18282-3PG-311&utm_term=18282-3PG-311&utm_content=Switchcraft looks like the 3 connector Male (Pin) @ $5.21 Questions to others: are the Yakbitz products plug and play with OP2? or is there a guide to adding one? I am especially thinking about the USB version RE: Connect autohelm to op - Max1947 - 2020-05-13 (2020-05-13, 05:34 PM)Techstyle Wrote:Quote:I try to find another 3 pin round plug to change directly the one in the cable but i can't find a compatible one. Anyone knows what kind of plug is? Yakbitz is plug and play. You just have to configure the port in OP2. Anyone knows what kind of plug is? Tried these connectors and only the male pin one works, the female one does not. I will try to find the mating connector to this one RE: Connect autohelm to op - luchin0 - 2020-05-21 (2020-05-21, 05:38 PM)Techstyle Wrote:Thank you techstyle, in the meantime i have checked the plug. Attempting to integrate things at a native protocol level is obviously hard. In a case like this where output is already being displayed visually, wouldn't it be possible (and much easier in the long run) to train a camera (a cheap CCD would suffice) on the instrument and perform the conversion is OpenCV? https://github.com/opencv/opencv RE: Connect autohelm to op - Techstyle - 2020-06-09 (2020-05-21, 07:20 PM)luchin0 Wrote:(2020-05-21, 05:38 PM)Techstyle Wrote:Thank you techstyle, in the meantime i have checked the plug.
