RE: Raspbian bug kills Moitessier HAT systems after upgrading to kernel 4.19.118 - MigGat - 2020-07-21

(Sorry if this post appears twice, i'm not sure if i posted it properly the first time)

I think i'm facing a new aspect of the same issue, which is that the fix suggested by rooco (bug_fix_kernel_4.19.118 ) actually upgraded my kernel to 5.4.51, which I assume is the latest stable one, so i find no available Moitessier packages  Confused

I'm quite new to this, so a few questions:

1) Am i missing something?
2) Should i downgrade kernel ? (not sure that's even possible)
3) Should I wait for a new Moitessier package version compatible with the latest stable kernel?

Thanks

The short answer: 3)

The long one:
Kernel 5.4.51 was published yesterday and it seems that Rasberry guys finally fixed the bug!
Now after updating the kernel the system will boot as usual so we can forget this annoying issue and wait for the Moitessier package for kernel 5.4.51 to be built at rooco servers.

Great,

Just received the HAT from the last batch yesterday, so it has been quite a coincidence that it happened the exact same day of the new kernel release  Big Grin

Waiting for the new package for further testing.

Thanks for the quick answer!

This is the Kernel that allows to boot form USB correct?

I'm pretty sure it still requires and SD card to make that work? The latest kernel installs a boat loader that allows booting without an SD card present.

sorry Smile

you only see the USB boot from a USB3 stick.

My real system on the boat boots much faster with SSD
The video link should now work ?!

Yep video can be seen now, great!

So I wonder if you used method 1 or 2 of the kernel work around?
