Wifi RTL8188eu drivers (TP-Link) - Sjoerd02 - 2022-11-25 Hello folks, I want to use a 2nd Wifi adaptor to connect to the marina wifi. I happen to have 2 nano tp-link (alike) wifi adaptors. At home I was testing with the new version 3 Openplotter. I did not manage to connect using the RTL wifi adaptor. I remembered I solved it in version 2 to use the "install wifi driver" option, however the version 3 does not have this option. Today I am on the boat having the version 2 running. I checked the adapter and it's also a RTL8188eu chip (tp-link) As I have many times idssue to reconnect i thought to be smart updating OS by perfroming an update. > sudo apt update > sudo apt upgrade After that my 2nd adpater disapeared. - do fix if ain't broken - Trying to fix and reinstalling the driver using the button in network the driver could no longer be found: I got message: Questions: 1) any option to get the drivers installed in both version 2 and 3 2) what adaptors are working (when looking in shops the chepset is most of time not mentioned) Thanks in advance Sjoerd RE: Wifi RTL8188eu drivers (TP-Link) - tjm - 2022-11-29 (2022-11-25, 09:03 PM)Sjoerd02 Wrote: Hello folks, I think this page explains the sad situation very informatively: https://github.com/morrownr/USB-WIFI/tree/main/home tjm RE: Wifi RTL8188eu drivers (TP-Link) - baltika_no_9 - 2022-12-03 Those Realtek devices are very troublesome. I recommend the Ralink RT5370, they work seamlessly, no drivers to install just straight from the box. I have quite a few and am happy to send you one if you like. |
