New Board BIGTREETECH BTT Pi test install - bektorkhan - 2024-04-12

Hi

I have been playing around with Orange Pi for , had Openplotter on a OrangePi PC 2 Plus 2G ram 8G Emmc, but never got installed in the boat.
Now I got a question on Facebook where I answered that  this BTT Pi 3d printer Klipper board could be a good board... so I should test it myself...before causing problems!!

The board: https://biqu.equipment/collections/control-board/products/bigtreetech-btt-pi-v1-2?gad_source=1

And it does not include Can bus, but has port for an Can accessory: https://biqu.equipment/collections/control-board/products/bigtreetech-btt-pi-v1-2?variant=40332289867874

So I got the image for the BTT CB1 that is working with BTT Pi board:  https://github.com/bigtreetech/CB1

I think it is an Armbian I tried Armbian Bookworm but was not lucky...

I'll will follow the OPI 5 install maybe, and adapt things

This board is close to OrangePi Zero 2w.. I have a few.. try them later maybe!

I'll report more later  /bektorkhan

RE: New Board BIGTREETECH BTT Pi test install - bektorkhan - 2024-04-16

Have tested this BigTreeTech Pi board..

It works with problems:

This board is equal to BTT CB1 software wise

Tried: Bullseye klipper debian from BTT , did not work
Bullseye Armbian desktop, did not work

Bookworm Armbian and beta Openplotter 4, work if SignalK installed during several reboots, memory starvation swap death.
WiringPi I did not ported, but an OPI 2W WiringOP could be ported.

1Gb Ram is on the edge to install things... leaks maybe. But once it runs it's OK.

Pros:  Cheap $30-35
         Powerful  Quad-core Cortex-A53 @1.5GHz
         9 - 24 V DC in
Can bus Accessory board to buy
         SPI Display port
         40 pin Pi i/o
Cons:
1 Gb Ram is on the edge..
Mail G32 panfrost driver is quirkay here and do not let X11 run remote sessions, if local GUI is up!
Can bus needs accessory board, easy to miss ..
          100 Mbit LAN

For now, moving on to OPI 2W 2Gb Ram with I/O board..
