Using M3 instead of M2.5 - AndyV - 2024-04-28

If I use a tap or a drill bit on the Mac Hat, would I be interfering with any PCB wires/paths or other components by enlarging the mounting holes? It looks the it won't be an issue with the Pi5. My Mac Hat is otw, just trying to get a head start as it's crunch time for me! Thanks.

There is clearance around the mounting holes, mainly to prevent screws from shorting out circuits. You can see all the traces that are nearby on the top and bottom of the board.

However, I wouldn't recommend drilling into a populated PCB as solder joints and parts like ceramic capacitors can be damaged by heavy vibration.
