isssue with false readngs on icm-20948 - ddelorme - 2024-10-14
i have an issue with getting false readings and sometimes the rp5 cannot find the sensor.
i have a rpi5 with 8g memory nmve base and the MacArthur hat.i replaced the hat once to eliminate that and ordered a new 20948. the new one was not detected.
i am at wits end on this issue. it happens apx every 5 or 6 readings.
i have read through the pypilot page but have not gone this route yet.
any ideas has anyone else experienced this. i suspect their is some bad/cheap sensors out there. it is mounted on the hat.

Hmm, do you have anything else connected to the I2C bus?
The only thing on the MacArthur HAT causing this could be an intermittent contact due to bad solder joints on the header for the IMU connector. You can check that by looking at the solder joints from the bottom while lightly wiggling the connector. If any of the pins is moving, that would be the issue.

so the issue seems to be the not so cheap imu i bought twice. i used the the other connector and a different source for the imu and it works with out issues.i suspect crappy sources on amazon for the issue although i went trough 2 different vendors.
