desktop wall paper and menu icons lost
#1
Hi all,

I have a strange situation and I need help!

Here is my hardware config:
raspberry pi 4 and the moitessier hat 2

And the firmware from
https://openplotter.readthedocs.io/en/la...ading.html
OpenPlotter Moitessier HAT  >>>2020-12-16-OpenPlotter-v2-Moitessier-HAT-img.zip

So standard config. Works great out of the box.  In the normal use and operation. I make some change to the system like install SDR VHF etc. Then the desktop wall paper with the raspberry and openplotter logo is change for the temple image. Even the image file is nowhere to be found. Also the icons (opencpn, signalk etc ) in the task bar also have disapeared.

I reinstalled the firware a few times with the same results. Since the change occured ultimately after a reboot I don't know what exactly the change that make them dissapear.

Anybody experience this before?

Thanks in advance for any input

I really need this before validating all my charts!
Once the charts are validated and I reinstall! I lose the chart licence.
Please give me something if you know something...

Have just had the same thing happen… any luck finding a fix (realizing your experience was a while ago now)? I had been installing an influxdb plugin when chromium seemed to freeze up. After a while I did a reboot on the system and suddenly screen resolution was limited to 640x480. A few reboots later I adjusted config.txt to alter the framebuffer_width and _height and then on next reboot the icons and wall paper reverted to defaults and temple image. Haven’t been able to find anything helpful as of yet. Thanks.

Think I determined the root of the wall paper issue… I’d apparently gone into Appearance Settings > Defaults and pressed one of the Set Default buttons located there. Rather than allow to review and modify defaults, that actually changes some settings to rpi system defaults… not the clearest UI. Anyway, knowing that, should be possible to just go reset the wall paper to the openplotter stock image and to reset taskbar icons.

As for the 640x480 res problem, had to change /boot/config.txt so hdmi_group=1 and hdmi_mode=4, per a thread elsewhere. Seems to have done the job.
