I have setup a raspberry pi with a Hat to receive AIS signals and also have connected a GPS receiver via USB. All that works fine and I can connect to it with my Android tablet using Navionics app. I can also SSH into it from my raspberry 400 that I use as the main computer on the boat. RealVnc used to work fine until I decided that I didn't like the resolution it was set at. As soon as I tried to change it I messed it up. Now all I get is the top left hand corner of what should be the desktop of my raspberry pi. I have tried endlessly to change it back but to no avail. Any help would be much appreciated.

Can you still see the full-sized desktop via a monitor is it not setup that way?

You should be able to do that, can you see the start menu at all?
If not try sudo raspi-config from a terminal and then I think it's advanced options. I can't remember on the pi if the command line and the gui are two different settings- worth a try anyway

Ok I got to the boat today. I couldn't try to connect to a monitor as I had forgotten that the raspberry pi 3b I was using
uses a full sized hdmi connector and on the boat I only had the micro one that the raspberry pi 400 uses.
However I did also try the raspi-config and when I rebooted it was working fine. Only problem is I changed a few
settings. Not sure which one did it. I enabled some compositor and reduced the res setting to the lowest.
will have to mess around someday to figure out which one it was. So happy its working again.

I think you need a dummy HDMI to charge to higher resolution
