You should open an issue at signal k if you think this plugin is not working well. Tkurki are you here?

AFAIK OpenCPN uses the system time because GPS time is always UTC so people can set local time.

I checked the code and it appears that the interval parameter is multiplied by an extra 10, so setting it to 10 actually means setting time every 100 seconds, not ten. But it should not take 5 minutes.

Are you quite sure you were getting valid datetime all the time? In theory you vould get a datetime, see it in Data Browser but it would stop coming in so that when the next time it would be ready to set the time there is no longer a valid datetime.

Without a data log that we could play back really hard to verify what has been happening.

I have not heard about others having similar problems.

Thanks- that at least explains why I do not see the plugin trigger when I expect it. I'll test with smaller intervals. I cannot guarantee I'm getting a valid date-time all the time, however I do have a  solid fix quite quickly, cannot see why the time would drop off...
Maybe I'm the only one that starts the OpenPlotter system without even a wifi network around?
Thanks again for your time and feedback!

I have found a software solution but it does not seem trivial: https://gpsd.gitlab.io/gpsd/gpsd-time-se...howto.html

I don’t think that is fundamentally different from the plugin: you set the system time based on time data from gps. The method there method is much more accurate, but for most people that level of accuracy rarely matters.

If there are problems with the plugin I would like to get them fixed, but can’t do anything with the data I have so far. Except change the config label to read right...

For me the issue is (seems- next week I'll be 'field testing' Cool ) solved now I know the config repeat time is multiplied by 10. That, with a 30 second delay in auto starting OpenPlotter should solve my problems..

BTW: The OpenPlotter autostart delay also applies when doing a 'check system'  Confused

Thanks again!
