nv charts plugin
#1
hi,

i downloaded and installed openplotter on a pi2 today and so far i'm impressed, thankyou for your efforts.

i have 3 discs of nv charts i wish to install and there is an opencpn plugin for using these, however as far as i can tell it isn't preinstalled with openplotter? the plugin on the opencpn site is available as a windows package.

how would i go about getting a pi version of this plugin? is it possible? i assume i would then just follow the instructions given here-https://opencpn.org/wiki/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=opencpn:opencpn_user_manual:plugins:charts:nv_charts-to install the charts on the pi?

I guess this won't be possible, as it is based on a closed SDK from the NV Verlag which is only available for Windows. Their own navigation program "Chart Navigator ..." is also only available for Windows.

thats a shame, when you look on their site you can use their app on windows, mac, ios and android.i was hoping pi would be possible-maybe in the future then!

I have been in contact with NV Verlag, trying to persuade them into making their charts available to Linux users but they don't seem to be very interested. Maybe if more people ask for it...

Caution, Newbie:

I installed OpenCPN 5.6.0.
Goto Options, Plugins.

Cannot find the "ofc-pi" that is mentioned on https://opencpn.org/OpenCPN/plugins/fugawi.html

General question:
Before this "ofc-pi", Fugawi plugin for nv charts existed only for Windows.
But OpenCPN does not exist for Windows.
How does/did this work?

OK. Time is running fast. I will approach NV Verlag, like several others did already.

And now I saw the main page of OpenCPN. There the Windows software is also available. The day before I saw a list with PI downloads only. Anyway, on my boat I will not introduce Windows.

the chance is zero. You can save yourself the effort

they are primarily interested in pushing their own app with the corresponding charts.
