Sailor Hat for Raspberry Pi v2

Hey all,

First, apologies for spam - this is a commercial message, to a degree! But I promise it is very, very relevant to OpenPlotter users!

I am Matti Airas, the Mad Hatter of Hat Labs, a small company manufacturing open marine hardware. I've created a new major version of Sailor Hat for Raspberry Pi which is a power management board for the Raspberry Pi and similar small computers. The SH-RPi lets you power a Pi directly from your boat's electrical system - either 12 or 24V nominal. And equally importantly, it shuts the Pi down in a controlled fashion when the power is cut, integrating the Pi seamlessly with other boat electronics.

The new SH-RPi version is a significant development over the first version, released in 2021. SH-RPi v2 has a much higher output current capability, an integrated real-time clock, improved firmware with more features such as timer "sleep" functionality as well as rewritten service software. The new version doesn't include integrated NMEA 2000 connectivity but instead lets the user to stack add-on hats such as Waveshare's CAN and RS485 HATs for NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183 connectivity, respectively.

The Sailor Hat for Raspberry Pi is open hardware and open software.

Does it work also with OpenCPN aktive
and do we get this warning from it about unpropper OpenCPN shutdown on next reboot?

Hi Holger,

The SH-RPi works just fine whether there is OpenCPN or not. However, if OpenCPN requires to be shut down before shutting down the Pi itself, you can specify a custom shutdown script that first signals OpenCPN to close and only after that initiates the Pi shutdown.

Hello Mairas,

I just bought a sailor hat as well and face the same issue: it properly switches off the Pi but kills the openCPn process triggering the safe mode query on next startup, and discarding every config changes.

Can you please tell me more precisely where and how a custom shutdown script can be edited?
