WindTrim modes
#1
Hi, I'm trying to set up a windtrim mode on openplotter. my config is:

autopilot raymarine st1000+
navman wind 3100
openplotter 0.17
RPI3

I connected the autopilot to RPI through this usb to serial adapter

connecting NMEA + (of autopilot) to A/D+ (of usb/serialconverter)
and           NMEA -  (of autopilot) to B/D- (of usb/serialconverter)
and this is the output of diagnostic:

and I connected the wind instrument to RPI through this usb to serial converter

connecting NMEA OUT (of wind instrument) to pin 2 (of usb/serialconverter)
and            GRD          (of wind instrument) to pin 5 (of usb/serialconverter)
and this is the output of diagnostic:

from the autopilot manual:
" the recognized Nmea sentences for Apparent wind angle and speed is: VWR"

from the wind instrument manual:
"Nmea 0183 output: MWV,VPW"

Is it correct right now?
What I have to do now?

tnks a lot......

only thought I could offer is to use node-red to generate expected NMEA sentences. There are samples of similar already in this forum.

thinking to modify the node red example in openplotter.....

I think to understand I have to add a function after "merge value" to estrapolate the info to "build" my VWR NMEA sentence, but I really don't know how right now....

some tips??

ciao

there is no windtrim mode in openplotter if the sentences are in diagnostic then your auto pilot should read them then you need to program the auto pilot.
