what I'am missing is Synaptic. The first thing I install after a new setup. Why is this not included ?. However, it is very easy to install. And a handy tool to add plugins (and bsb3 charts !)

There are some reasons to not install synaptic. The first reason, common to other discarded tools, is SD space. We can not exceed 4 GB for img and NOOBS files and we need to be conservative with the included tools. The second one is that we can not make so easy to install and update packages from apt or synaptic because openplotter apps must be installed from openplotter-settings app and not manually.
