I see that Winlink access is on the todo list.

Any idea when (or how) this might happen ?

I'd really love to see this too.  PAT would do it and just apply all the extras working in the image.
Like:
pactor support
HF propagation prediction
Rig Control
SAILDOCS CATALOG

Look at winlink Airmail or Winlink express on how to make it work.  The teams responsibble would love to work with you.
