GPAPB and tacking in wind mode

without rudder feedback, you can't just "put it back the other way the same amount of time" since because of weather helm the motor is really easy to move the rudder to tack, but as boat speed slows after tack, it takes longer to get back. The amount varies but could at least be estimated based on motor current if there is no rudder feedback...

I like this jib/tack prevention mode. The watchdog in opencpn can make an alarm but this may be too late. If the autopilot could use a regular compass or gps course, but have a setting for minimum and maximum wind angle, this could be interesting.

Even an approximation to the proper angle is better than a slow rudder movement.
Can refine by  sensing how it's turning and adjust.
Will never be as good as rudder feedback.

In case it's not clear for jib prevention was thinking of switching to wind and set alarm.
There may not be enough time to react if your not at the helm.
Could maybe even switch back if the wind shifts back but that is a frill.
Want to avoid interesting or possibly dangerous situation.
The user interface is probably the hard part.
