OpenPlotter UI for touchscreen
#1
I'd love to see openplotter distribution to have a UI (especially on touchscreen) similar to
Raymarine Lighthouse 3

Very clean. Chartplotter/Cameras/Radar/Sonar/Audio/Dashboard, etc

Might be a new challenge for next release?

Thanks,

I like your idea but cant see it as part of OP rather an additional program.
Some kind of graphical menu system where the user can assign icons and program links in e.g. a ini file and which is triggered by the startup script.
Thinking about it I am surprised that something similar doesnt already exist.
Will start googling - maybe other nugget diggers are faster? Wink

node-red seems to be the answer on anything nowadays Smile - have to start familiarizing myself with it.

What do they use on raspberry pi for car computers? I’d think a car touchscreen would have a similar interface which could be re-used.

Thanks

I’ve found AGL (automotive grade Linux)
open source and works on intel and raspberry pi too.
seems comes with touchscreen support.
I’d think it’s a good base to build a boat computer
(There are lots of similarities between a boat and a car)

Found more interesting links. It seems there is some effort underway to make Maritime Grade Linux out of AGL

You may want to have a look at this: https://forum.openmarine.net/showthread.php?tid=2997 I hope it can be a good starting point.

You can easily change icons, menu organisation and software to trigger by editing oplauncher.yaml and oplauncher.sh. Honestly it is about all I have been doing with PiMenu to turn it into OPLauncher ..Smile
It is possible to automatically run oplauncher.py at startup, or from a shortcut on the desktop.
