Basic UPS Power for RasPi
#1
I am attempting to set up an openplotter system for a club owned boat, I know that members will just power off the navigation instruments without shutting down the RasPi.

Does anyone have any knowledge of using upsd with Open Plotter?

It seems to use a basic battery bank and detect when an ethernet hub, not powered by the battery bank, disconnects, then initiates a managed shutdown.

Are there any other basic UPS' available that do similar?

Can anyone recommend a good unfiltered 12v to 5v converter with enough power to run a Raspberry Pi 4, Small Ethernet Switch, Small Travel Router and a handful of addons (RTLSDR, GPS Dongle, RS232-USB etc.)?

I've used Geekworm stuff for a while and I've been impressed with the performance and support. I just noticed they have a UPS board that incorporates 18650 batteries. It does provide auxiliary 5v output and safe shutdown, but needs to be powered by 5v.

As for a 12v/5v converter, here's the one I use. Plenty of headroom.

I use since 6 month that 5A model which also exist in 10 A

The 5 A iis enough to supply the Pi4-8GB, the SSD and the Hubs.
