So I am experiencing some strange behavior after reboot, sometimes signalk is not receiving data from the Moitessier Hat 1, sometimes it takes 1 - 3 reboots to fix this issue.
Is anyone else having this problem?
I am running OP2 with all up to date apps including the latest openCPN, and SignalK
The fact is that I use a Moitessier 1 with an Rpi 3A+ and it works great. It always resets OK and never fails. And I've done over 100 restarts in a row to make sure.
The HAT Moitessier has a not negligible energy consumption, which together with the consumption of the same Rpi could be important. If the power source is not powerful enough or stable enough it could have problems loading the HAT driver and produce those random errors.
For the other part, I can confirm that the software and the Hat 1 are working correctly so it must be a problem specific to your installation-configuration.
The power supply is good. I’ve struggled with that before but I no longer get under voltage warnings. It just recently began doing this after upgrading to the latest signalk and opencpn. I’ve used it for a year without issue similar to this.

Could you run in terminal this command:
head -n 50 /dev/moitessier.tty
and post it's output here?
Hi Sorry for the delay.
I just uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers after several reboot attempts did not restore the mhat signal k connection. It is currently working and here is the output
Did you want me to reboot to see if I can get it to loose connection again and then run the terminal command?
Shortly after I ran the terminal cmd I lost GPS data in OpenCPN.
This looks like a healthy GPS data coming in from Moitessier HAT. The total number of visible sattelites is between 7 and 11 which is a bit on a low side, but should be enough. So the issue is somewhere up the stack. Do you get any errors or related messages in the Signalk server log when you loose GPS data? It is available via web interface as well.

Just this one line after restarting signalk

What do you see on Dashboard (not data browser) page when GPS is not available? There is a table with all the data sources and their status and some statistics on the number of actual messages received.

I too have a similar problem.
RP4 (8GB), Moitessier Hat 2, MCS
Sometimes I don't have GPS in OpenCPN. Sometimes very quickly, sometimes it takes a little longer until I get the signal displayed.
Strange:
If I have a GPS signal and go to the Dashboard settings in OpenCPN and set something there under Plugins - Dashboard, OpenCPN loses the GPS connection and does not establish it anymore.
However, the Moitessier Hat 2 still provides GPS according to the flashing LED on the board. At this point in time, I still have GPS data in AVnav.
