controller connection

PI4-4 giga + Moitessier + FanShim + MCS

Hi Sean (and anyone can help out),
sorry for the questions but after receiving your controller and starting to put it all together, I can't understand (I followed your instructions and read the various wikis) how to make it work my Chinese rocker. I attach photos that I think are more explanatory. "No motor controller" is what I see. The controller turns solid red and flashing orange. Connected to the 12 v network. and to the four pins of the Moitessier. Tried with "uart" and without. Made a rough calibration but the actuator does not move. Is it a software issue or am I wrong somewhere? Or is the controller faulty? I look forward to it and wish everyone good wind, always!  Cool

I have always attached the motor controller wires directly onto the RPi, I have never had success attaching them to the Moitiessier hat.
the UART needs to be clicked, sometimes you need to click it and reboot, and even then its not instant it takes a minute to show up the first time.

Ok thanks rastam4n. So you suggest me to directly connect the pins on the raspy. I'll try and see, thanks again for your availability.

I connected the controller cables directly to the RPI, but nothing changes, apart from the orange led which is on steady together with the red led which indicates that there is current. UART enabled. Advice?  Huh

Hi,

don´t know how you now connected the two devices.
A popular mistake ist to connect tx with tx and rx with rx on both sides but you have to connect tx with rx and rx with tx. Also you need to have the same GND for both devices.

Regards

Andreas

Thanks Andreas.
I followed Sean's instructions to the letter See: https://i.imgur.com/2jbn5CV.png
So the threads are not reversed. I just hope the controller isn't faulty.
I await instructions from Sean, also to understand what to do. Let's hope!

Maybe a photo of the actual connections would be helpful?

(2020-11-05, 12:59 PM)Thanks Andreas. Wrote: I have the same problem. Connection on UART, bluethooth deactivated, Moitessier Hat, same wiring as you, and as in the assembly diagram of Sean, Tx and Rx are not reversed. It does not work. controller absent, disengaged, nothing can be done.

I tried without the Hat (but without MPU9255), it still doesn't work.

Ok, I am attaching photos of the controller.
As you can see the network cable is connected (red / black), the cable to the actuator on the two "GREEN" screws, the four wires in my case "brown-black-white-blue" (https://i.imgur.com/2jbn5CV.png) go to the RPI following Sean's directions.
Uart activated.

I was actually more interested in the connection to the Rpi as that is the one that is likely causing the problem
