Polar Plugin and SignalK
#1
Hello everybody,
I'm trying to build my own polar using Polar plug in for OpenCPN. I get NMEA0183 data in OpenCPN without any problem using SignalK. I'm not able to see NMEA data in Polar.

Could you please give me some hints? Thanks a lot in advance for your help

Attached please find screenshots of my setup (pdf file).

PS I've performed a search in the forum and couldn't find any thread on this subject, apologies if this is a subject already discussed.

Looks like you've got opencpn set to receive signalk, not nmea. Try disabling the 3000 sigk input and create a tcp, 10.10.10.1 port 10110 connection.

tried it, and don't get any data. Replacing 10.10.10.1 with localhost, does let me sea NMEA activity in the debug window, but when I open the Polar plugin I don't see anything, see pic below.

Sorry, don't know the plugin so can't help - what nmea are you seeing in the nmea debug window in opencpn setting | connections?

OK, just had a quick play using the sksim app with signagl-nmea & derived data, seems to work ok>>

In the NMEA debug window, I don't see any NMEA traffic (I'm using SignalK). I have to add another connection (TCP, localhost, port 10110) to be able to see NMEA traffic in the debug window.

I'm not sailing at the moment (no SOG o STW) and I can't see any chart plotted in the Polar plugin. I guess it needs to cross Wind Speed and Angle data with Boat Speed, can you please confirm that without the boat moving I won't be able to see any activity in the Polar plugin?

Thanks!

That's more of an opencpn question >>
