Good point. However, it also requires user interaction, which is where I’ll usually mess it up. I’ve long be a proponent of automating tasks to remove the errors of the human element.

Node red can automate the record.

To be honest, the only problem I have with this solution you're proposing is the part when you propose recording the audio live...I think this could easily fail when doing it because of  different factors.

I developed the weather fax plugin and tested a few times using an upconverter. The sdr path for weather fax decoding is not all that well tested though, and I don't know anyone using an upconverter. So yes, if you can record to a file first and get it to work in the plugin, then it can definitely work in the plugin with automatic schedules, there is likely just a parameter not set right or something like that..

Again, I have not used direct sampling. Is extracting the relevant audio the same?
