how do I install Australian charts into CPN ?
#1
Hello everyone.

I am just getting started setting up a RPI 4 with open plotter as a primary chart plotter in a trawler I am rebuilding to a live a-board there as various reasons for heading this direction.

I am struggling to find a chart for Australia in the chart downloads or anything about them online, can anyone help point me in the right direction?

There is a charts section on the OpenCPN web site that has descriptions of what charts are available, both free and for purchase. New Zealand publishes charts that are free and compatible with OpenCPN, but they don't have a lot of detail in Australian waters.

in order to understand first:
- what Operating system?
- AHS S-63 charts or oeSENC( oeEVC) charts?
(for the first you need the S-63 plug-in and for the latter the oeSENC-pi)
- version of OpenCPN and the corresponding plug-in For Andoid there is no S-63 plug-in btw. oeSENC yes.

For the record, I am an o-charts employed. AFAIK these are the only affordable vector charts for OpenCPN. All Australian S63 charts are really expensive.
